Motivation
The size of GenBank is growing rapidly.
Currently there are approximately 200 millions bases of human DNA
sequences available in it, and it's size is expected to triple over the next year.
When the human genome project will be
completed, it's size will exceed 3 billion base pairs. Roughly 90% of
the human genome is non-coding, namely is not a template for
a protein. Due to the size of the database, manual searching of
genes, who do code for proteins, is not practical. Methods that
help the biologists focusing their search are needed.
