מחקר

פרופסור בחוג לגיאופיזיקה ולמדעים אטמוספיריים ופלנטריים, בפקולטה למדעים מדויקים, אוניברסיטת תל-אביב. מפתח של שיטת הפרדת משתנים Factor Separation בסימולציות נומריות, כיום בשימוש בקבוצות מחקר בכל העולם, שמשה ומשמשת בפרסומים מרובים. השיטה מאפשרת לראשונה בידודם של תרומות סינרגיות באטמוספירה, שותף בכתיבת של כ-200 מאמרים בעיתונות המדעית, בעיקר בתחומי דינאמיקה בסקאלות בינוניות ובאקלים. מחקריו בעיקר בתחומי דינאמיקה אטמוספרית, קלימטולוגיה, שיטות נומריות, מודלים אזוריים ושינוי אקלים. פיתח שיטה חדשנית לניטור האטמוספרה באמצעות נתונים ממערכות תקשורת סלולריות. השיטה מאפשרת ניטור גשם, לחות אטמוספרית וערפל.

המודל האטמוספרי שבנה בדוקטורט שלו (1980) שופר ונעשה בו שימוש בבלגיה ופינלנד. בקבוצת המחקר שלו חוקר תופעות מזג-אוויר ושינויים אקלימיים ע"י ניתוח נתונים ממקורות שונים והרצת מודלים אטמוספריים שונים.
